As a perk of being my client, you get the benefit of knowing you have solid, dependable backup for your birth, should I ever be unable to attend a birth due to emergency or need relief during an extended labor.

The KC Doula Connective is a collective of Independent KC Doulas, Danielle Seifert, Mariam Self, Rebekah Hoover, and Monica Drake. These doulas provide backup services to clients of the others in the Connective should the need for a backup doula ever arise. We strive to support our clients in accordance to our values and priorities of faith, family, and service. We have also added Sarah Harris as a postpartum doula whom aligns with our values!

In order to further support our clients, we have created an exclusive Facebook group for clients of the members of the KC Doula Connective. The purpose of this page is for clients to at least know the faces and stories of each of the doulas, in the event of a backup ever being needed . Your birth team is of upmost importance to us, and we want you to be comfortable that you will be well taken care of.

The doulas in this group operate individually. We are NOT a group of doulas that share call. Your doula will absolutely attend your birth barring an emergency. In an effort to assure continuity of care with a likeminded and trusted doula, we formed this Connective. We meet regularly, keep in contact often to bounce around ideas and offer comradery. We promise you are in the best of hands within our Connective, which is the only one of its kind in the KC area. Below you will find bios for each of the birth doulas in the Connective (you can read more about me on the "about me" page)!

Truthful Beginnings Doula

Danielle Siefert

Hi! I’m Danielle! I own Truthful Beginnings. I’m a wife to my wonderful husband, Joel, who I met working at Chick Fil A when we were in high school! We have been married almost 8 years and have 3 kiddos! Luke is 5, Stella is 3, and Jett is 1!!  They all each have their own unique birth stories as well and through my own pregnancies and labors is how I knew birth work is where I need to be! I’m a stay at home mom, labor doula, and a barista part time at a local coffee shop, Sweet Tee’s. I’ve been a doula for 2 years and have no doubt this is where God has put me and I love every second of encouraging and lifting up women! I don’t get much time to myself, but I watch a lot of Netflix while I’m cleaning, and my husband and I like to play board games after the kids go to bed sometimes!
My first pregnancy ended in an induction for no real reason other than I was ready to meet my baby. After the cascade of interventions he was breech when I was ready to deliver so I was put under general anesthesia and had an emergency cesarean. My second baby came 10 days late and I had a VBAC and water birth at a birthing center! My third baby was born at home, 11 days after his guess date in the water in my bedroom. Looking back at my experiences I am thankful for them all. Each one gave me new perspective and understanding, and I’m able to better help mothers because of it.
I know birth is normal and women’s bodies were made for this. I also know every mom has her own idea of what she wants her birth to look like. My job is to help you get the birth YOU are envisioning! Working with the rest of your birth team to have your wishes met. It’s a truly humbling experience each and every time I get to watch another baby being born! I am blessed by my families to get to be a part of that special day!

Inspirational Births Doula

Rebekah Hoover

Hello!!! I am Rebekah Hoover. I am married to an amazing husband of 15+ years and we are blessed with 6 children! Four of our children are biological and two adopted. We first adopted locally and I induced lactation to be able to breastfeed her! I was honored to be able to be at her birth and even cut her umbilical cord. The next time, we adopted Filipino embryo's and I gave birth to our youngest adopted son! Each experience was unique and wonderful, but also challenging. It wasn't until after the birth of my youngest, which ended up being an emergency c-section due to placenta abruption at 35 weeks, that I learned what a doula was. When I did, I knew that was what I was called to do! I have always had a passion for pregnancy and birth. I also have a natural talent with massage and was excited for a way for my passion and talents to work together. I quickly looked for a training and worked hard to become certified through CAPPA. Since the start of my journey as a doula over 3 years ago, I have been living my dreams. I have served at many births at hospitals, birth centers, and homes. Serving woman as they go through the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth is what I hope to do for the rest of my life!

My personal philosophy of birth is that we are created with the innate ability to give birth. That birth is a physiological event, not a medical emergency. However, I am thankful for science and technology for times that it is necessary. As a doula, my philosophy is to lay my opinions down and to learn what it is YOU desire for YOUR birth and help you achieve it! To help you feel INSPIRED, EMPOWERED, and ENCOURAGED! Regardless of the twists and turns birth may bring you, I want you to feel like you made every decision fully informed and supported so that you can walk away feeling that you made the best choices for YOU every step of the way!

Along with my passion of serving women as they birth I have combined my passion of photography and give the option of a birth photography package.

Perfect Peace Doula

Mariam Self

Hello, my name is Mariam Self, owner of Perfect Peace Doula Services. I am a wife of 9 years and mother to 3 little girls--Lydia Mae,  Felicity Ann, and Vivienne Hope.  I love Jesus, music and the country life. I started my doula journey after having two very different birth experiences myself. One I did not have the support I needed, and one I did. The night and day differences I experienced gave me a passion for supporting families through one of the most life-changing journeys a family can go through--the birth of their baby. If my clients look back on their birth experience with joy and positive feelings, than I've done my job. I support YOUR choices for YOUR birth. I am certified through Childbirth International and am also a placenta encapsulator. I also just recently became a certified Hypno-Doula through Hypnobabies.
I would love nothing more than to walk alongside you as you navigate the path of pregnancy, discover YOUR vision for your birth and use the power you've had all along to make it come to fruition.
